AYS gives BON VOYAGE Concert

Wednesday, June 3rd, at 7:00 pm

Cibola High School's Performing Arts Center (1510 Ellison Drive NW, 87114) Admission is free, and there will be a reception following the concert

This concert and the AYS tour to Australia are the culmination of preparation and fundraising on the part of the AYS students, their families, and the generosity of many individuals and businesses.

The concert is a preview of the performance the Albuquerque Youth Symphony will give in the famed Sydney Opera House during their tour to Australia June 5 - 16, 2009. The AYS will perform the Overture to "Candide" by Bernstein, Gershwin's Lullaby, Southbank Overture by Australian Composer Colin Brumby, Prelude to "The Afternoon of a Faun" by Debussy and Hoedown from "Rodeo" by Copland.

On tour, the Albuquerque Youth Symphony will visit Auckland, New Zealand and Brisbane and Sydney, Australia. Five concerts will be presented, including a performance at the Sydney Opera House on June 15.
