The AYS Program, in conjunction with the Albuquerque Public Schools Fine Arts Department, is pleased to offer an educational opportunity for Middle School Band and Orchestra students in the annual "Bach to Basics" music camp, held every year in July.
The week's schedule includes three main objectives for the young musician:
- Professional music teachers will help each student improve their individual playing ability in the
important basic fundamentals such as:
- Correct playing position/posture
- Producing a beautiful tone
- Playing with good intonation/ear training
- Reading music with rhythmic accuracy
- Classes and recitals provide the students with the opportunity to become motivated and better players after hearing advanced students from the Albuquerque Youth Symphony and professional musicians from the community perform for them.
- This week will not only give each student many techniques to improve their skill level, but provide a good opportunity to be ready for the beginning of school in August!
