Who can join?

The Albuquerque Junior Youth Band is for middle school students. Students who attend public, private, parochial or home schools and live within a 50-mile radius of Albuquerque may audition. Students must be 11 years of age by August 15, 2012 and must be enrolled in their school band program, if offered.

Who will lead the band?

We are pleased that Angela Macke, Band Director at Cleveland Middle School and Sam Nesbitt, Band Director at Eisenhower Middle School will be serving as co-conductors of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Junior Youth Band.

When will the band meet?

Rehearsals will be held on Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at the AYS Program Facility (4407 Menaul NE) starting October 20, and following the APS calendar until our Gala Concerts April 21st. Two new performances are scheduled for December 6th in the schools, and for January 26th at the Cottonwood Mall.

How much does it cost?

Students will need to pay a $250 tuition fee prior to the first rehearsal.
