AYO

The Albuquerque Youth Orchestra is a quality full orchestra that began in the 1974-1975 season and is currently under the direction of Sayra Siverson. This high school- aged group (grades 9-12) recently performed the world premiere of the piece "Feng Shui" by "Jeremy Hegg" which was commissioned especially for the AYO and won raves and a standing ovation from the audience.

The AYO began a yearly concert tour in 2002 and so far has traveled and performed in Colorado, Arizona & New Mexico.

Past conductors of the AYO include; HT Payne (deceased), Kim Thompson, Ron Teare, Steve Romer & Vincent Kole.

AYO usually rehearses from 6:30 to 9:15 on Monday nights at New Mexico National Guard Armory (600 Wyoming NE)

AYO parent Wendy Franchell is the conductor of the 44th Army Band and is kindly offering her rehearsal facilities to AYO at no charge. Thank you Wendy! We appreciate it so very much.
