Please note that there is a $5.00 audition fee, which students should bring to their audition. If there is financial hardship, please call the AYS Program office 875-1319 for a fee waiver. Students will be auditioned on a prepared solo of their choice (no accompaniment), major scales up to 4 sharps and 4 flats, AND EXCERPTS (students should request excerpts from their music teachers). Percussionists should perform in as many areas as possible, i.e., snare drum, timpani, and mallets. NOTE for 2009 - 2010 season: 9th graders may be placed in AYS, AYO or AJS, if selected.
ELIGIBILITY
- All public, parochial, private and home school students within a 50-mile radius of Albuquerque are eligible.
- Students in grades 9 - 12 and 14 years old as of August 1, 2009 are eligible.
- Students must be enrolled as regular members of their school band or orchestra, if offered. Enrollment will be verified.
- Students accepted into the high school groups will be required to pay a tuition fee as established annually by the AYSP, Inc. Board of Directors.
Need- based financial aid is available. CAMP ATTENDANCE IS EXPECTED. AYO camp - July 26 - 29; AYS camp - July 29 - Aug. 1
Students selected will be notified BY MAIL IN MID JUNE. AUDITIONS WILL NOT BE HELD AGAIN IN THE FALL
