ELIGIBILITY:
Preparatory String Orchestra (PSO) is open to violin, viola, cello, and string bass students in grade levels 4 and 5.
APPLICATION:
Auditions are not required for Preparatory String Orchestra. Instead, please submit our online application (below) as soon as possible. A recommendation from a private teacher is REQUIRED for new students (not for students enrolled during the previous season) – more info below.
TEACHER RECOMMENDATION:
Applications of new students must be accompanied by a recommendation from the student’s private instructor indicating that the student can play at the appropriate level. See samples of repertoire from Preparatory Strings for guidance. Teacher recommendations must be included as part of the application process, either as copied/pasted text or uploaded as Word or PDF file.
ACCEPTANCE AND REGISTRATION:
Accepted NEW students will be notified no later than August 22, 2024, at which time registration information will be provided. RETURNING students are automatically accepted and may register online beginning August 1, 2024.
PARTICIPATION:
Rehearsals take place on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-6:00pm at the AYSP Facility. Participation requires an annual tuition fee.
