JO - Rehearsal Notes (4-1-17)

Parents and Students:  We have TWO rehearsals between now and the Popejoy weekend!

Everything that was brought to your individual attention during rehearsal today--needs your individual attentioon! Refer to your circled excerpts!

We will split up again at the beginning of next week’s rehearsal (like we did today) so be sure to do everything you can to avoid extra rehearsal time being spent on YOU!!

To be sure, each week brings improvement. At this point in the semester, however, we are looking for the Junior Orchestra to make SIGNIFICANT strides every Saturday. Be sure to practice your Junior Orchestra music OFTEN through the week.

Strings: remember to practice all pizzicato excerpts with the bow first for intonation.

Everyone: in Dance of the Hours, practice measures 94-97 A LOT!

As always, enjoy the excerpts you can play well, BUT be sure to practice your challenging excerpts MORE!

Remember, the concert is this month!  We have 2 more rehearsals left to perfect this music!  Our performance at Popejoy has the potential of being the best JO concert ever. It is up to you to prepare your parts thoroughly! When you practice, it is important for you to think about things we talked about in rehearsal:  fingerings, phrasing, breathing, DYNAMICS, bow placement, etc.

Make it a good week!
