As we consider our student-led fundraiser for this season, with input from some of our parents and students, we are considering reviving a traditional student experience and fundraiser - the AYSP Playathon! This event takes place an afternoon at Cottonwood Mall as each AYSP ensemble performs a 30-minute concert. This is a great way to share our students with our community, and for our students to support what we do at AYSP.
Since we had not announced this event at the beginning of the school year, we need your input. The event would be held on Saturday, January 28 at Cottonwood Mall from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Your child would need to be available for one hour that afternoon. (see schedule below) Prior to the event, students would ask for "pledges" from friends, family members, and neighbors, a dollar amount per orchestra piece being played.
The fundraising goal will be $100 per student. Each orchestra will play 5 pieces, so your child might ask four friends to pledge $5 per song ($25 total) performed by their orchestra at the Playathon, totaling $100 raised. Prize packages will be awarded to the students that raise the most money and every child that meets the $100 goal will receive AYSP swag. The funds raised for this event support AYSP operations and program expansion.
