DOROTHY WHISLER
Ms. Whisler is an artist and fine arts educator with a firm belief that everyone can participate in the arts and find enjoyment in the process. She taught middle school Digital Arts in a Title 1 school for several years in Louisville, Kentucky, then moved to Albuquerque along with her husband, Dan, when he joined the AYSP staff in 2020. Dorothy joined the AYSP staff in late 2021 as AYSP’s Accounts Coordinator and transitioned to Assistant Director in 2024.
Ms. Whisler is a violinist of nearly 20 years and has taught private violin lessons in several states. Despite growing up in a town where she was the only string player she knew of, she played in many youth orchestra ensembles and describes them as some of her favorite experiences. She studied violin with Kim Sullivan, violist for the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra; Allison Edberg, concertmaster for the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra; and Robert Simonds, former Principal Second Violin for the Rochester Philharmonic. She most recently was a member of the Louisville Philharmonia.
