Dorothy Whisler

Accounts Coordinator

Dorothy is an artist and fine arts educator with a firm belief that everyone can participate in the arts and find enjoyment in the process. She taught middle school Digital Arts in a Title 1 school for several years in Louisville, Kentucky, then moved to Albuquerque along with her husband, Dan, when he joined the AYSP staff.

Dorothy is a violinist of nearly 20 years and teaches private violin lessons. Despite growing up in a town where she was the only string player she knew of, she played in many youth orchestra ensembles and describes them as some of her favorite experiences. She studied violin with Kim Sullivan, violist for the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra; Allison Edberg, concertmaster for the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra; and Robert Simonds, former Principal Second Violin for the Rochester Philharmonic. Dorothy most recently was a member of the Louisville Philharmonia.

We rely on donations from generous individuals and businesses like you to provide symphonic performance experiences to Albuquerque’s talented young musicians and access to music education for students in need.
