We are excited to announce that starting in January of 2020, the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program - in partnership with Albuquerque Public Schools and The University of New Mexico Department of Music - will add an Elementary String Project (ESP) to its robust educational offerings.
The ESP is a beginning string program open to students in grades 4-5 in the Albuquerque area interested in learning to play the violin, viola, or cello. Classes will meet twice a week after school at the AYSP building. Unlike AYSP's Preparatory String Orchestra, ESP is a beginning group class for students with no prior music instruction whatsoever. Students will begin their first class with an instrument "petting zoo," where they can try different instruments and choose the one they want to learn to play.
WEEKLY REHEARSALS: Mondays & Wednesdays 4:00pm-5:00pm (unless otherwise noted) at the AYSP Facility.
TUITION: $450 for the full season.
PAYMENT OPTIONS: AYSP offers a variety of payment options.
FINANCIAL AID (NEED BASED):The Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program believes firmly that finances should not prevent any motivated, qualified student from participating. As such, AYSP provides tuition assistance to many families in need each season. Financial concerns should not prevent any student from auditioning for AYSP! During the audition process, families in need ask for a Financial Aid Application, which can also be downloaded below. All application information is kept 100% confidential. Each season an AYSP committee reviews applications considering family size, annual income, and extraordinary situations. AYSP may provide up to 90% reduction in tuition for qualified families.
