Greetings, Junior Symphony!  We are off to a solid start this semester, and our performance in Popejoy Hall on April 28 at 3pm promises to be an incredible one.  Thank you, young musicians, for three solid rehearsals already.  But only nine more plus the onstage run through left!!!!

These rehearsal notes are meant to provide parents and students important links (but certainly not the only ones) to versions of the music we will be playing this semester.

PLEASE REFER TO THESE NOTES FREQUENTLY!

And always, remember what Maestro Beethoven told us: "To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable!"

"Postlude in F", Charles Ives (ed. Singleton), played by the NIU Philharmonic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcqI9KuES4A

"Bacchanale" by Camile Saint-Saens (arr. Isaac), from Samson and Delilah, played by the Houston Youth Symphony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXGtHNft8n8

"Italian Folk Festival", Trad. (arr. Bullock), from the J.W. Pepper website: https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/media-player.jsp?&type=audio&produc...

"Brahms First Symphony (Fourth Movement)" (arr. Leidig), from the Alfred Music website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biycmuY3xgY

"Themes from STAR WARS: EPISODE II", from the J.W. Pepper website: https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/media-player.jsp?&type=audio&produc...

"The Best of the Beatles", by Lennon and McCartney (arr. Custer), played by the Marietta Pops Orchestra (*remember to play the rhythms more like the original in "Got to Get You into My Life"!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYbBjobJf2c

Now get to listening to this great music!  And don't forget to listen to these pieces in their original versions as well; critical listening is one of the most important skills we can develop!
