Important Announcements from Ms. Siverson

At AYSP, we value using our music to serve our community, and thus, have been performing free community holiday concerts for the past 5 years. We have had fun performing these meaningful concerts and have always had 70+ musicians participate. This year, however, the first year to combine YO and YCO, we only have 34 musicians signed up. If we do not get at least 30 more YO musicians signed up by the end of rehersal on Monday night, I will have to cancel this event.

The Los Lunas community is very much looking forward to our performance and I would hate to have to cancel. What a shame it would be for us to do that to this community that has had no exposure to symphonic music! You will receive 12 hours of community service hours for this event, dinner, buses to the concert hall and memories for years to come. Let's DO this, guys!!!! Sign up at rehearsal or email me NOW at

In preparation for our upcoming dress rehearsals and concerts in Popejoy Hall, we need volunteers to help up move percussion equipment.

  1. On Wednesday, November 7, 5PM-7PM, Mr. Kramer will be loading up percussion at AYSP and taking it to Popejoy Hall.
  2. On Sunday night, November 11, after the 6PM YS Concert is finished (approximately 7:30PM-9:00PM) Mr. Kramer will be loading up percussion at Popejoy Hall and taking it back to AYSP.

We need 8 volunteers for each date and as of now only have 2 for each. All percussionists and officers are expected to sign up for at least one of the time slots. All student and parent volunteers welcome.

Next week Thursday we will be performing School Tours. You are excused from school only until 12:30 PM, so don't skip the end of the day! I gave you some time if you wanted to go get lunch before heading back to school.
You will need to bring your music stands for the performance and you will be wearing our new AYSP tshirts which will be passed out at rehearsal on Monday. Ms. Velasco will be sending out a final Read & Heed about the school tour early next week.

In honor of Veteran's Day, our Sunday performances are dedicated to the men and women who serve and have served in our country’s Armed Forces.  We are pleased to offer free admission to either or both performances to all current and former members of the U.S. military. Attached is a flyer you may print and distribute.

Have a great weekend!

Ms. Siverson
