It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the passing of one of our own. Ezra Trager-Tarrant, member of the Youth Symphony Horn section this year and past member of Youth Orchestra, passed away Wednesday evening of a pulmonary embolism.
A pulmonary embolism is when a blood clot gets caught in one of the arteries that go from the heart to the lungs. Ezra developed blood clots in his lungs earlier this week and went to the hospital for treatment, but one of the clots blocked the normal flow of blood to his heart. The loss of oxygen supply to his heart caused the death of his heart tissue and he passed away of cardiac arrest 6PM Wednesday.
Ezra's band director at AHS, Ms. Stott, has organized a virtual memorial tonight at 7:00 PM and you all are invited. It will be online through Zoom. The link is: https://hsc-unm.zoom.us/j/118319152 Please share this link with all of your friends on social media and join in at 7:00 PM if you would like. It will be a safe space for us to share memories and grieve together, yet physically be apart during this time of social distancing.
Ms. Tarrant, Ezra's mom, shared concern over rumors of a candlelight vigil taking place, but she wanted me to share that she and her husband discourage students from participating in any event that may put you or those you love at risk of Coronavirus infection. They hope, instead, that you join us tonight online.
I am heartbroken for Ezra's family and so thankful I was a small part of his life. He was a gifted musician and a wonderful young man. I will miss his smile and sweet hello each week before rehearsal. I am looking forward to sharing memories tonight and would love to see you there.
We rely on donations from generous individuals and businesses like you to provide symphonic performance experiences to Albuquerque’s talented young musicians and access to music education for students in need.
