January 25, 2016

I'm really pleased with the amount of work we've been able to accomplish in these first two rehearsals. Let's continue to work on our rehearsal behavior as we start to get into more and more detail in our rehearsals. I understand it's sometimes difficult, but it makes such a big difference if we can keep extraneous noise and chit-chat to a minimum. These pieces are difficult enough on their own without added distractions!

IMPORTANT REQUEST!

In order to have a balanced string section for the Organ Jubilee Concert in February, we REALLY need a few more violins! If you are able to help out, please contact Ms. Siverson (sayra@aysmusic.org). Rehearsals for that concert take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in February and the concert is on February 28th.

Rehearsal Schedule (January 25)

6:30pm-7:30pm - Scheherazade (mvmts. II and IV)
7:30pm-7:45pm - Forza del Destino (beginning to "H")
8:00pm-9:15pm - Sectionals

String Chair Tests

Remember that this coming Monday will be our string chair tests in your sectional time. The test material will be taken from the 2nd and 4th movements of Scheherazade.

Violin 1 Cadenza Auditions

Any members of the Violin 1 section that would like to perform one of the cadenzas in Scheherazade should be ready to play for me and your section coach this coming Monday (Jan. 25). The cadenza audition material will be the audition sheet you received in November. Cadenza auditions will take place immediately following the chair test for the entire section.
