Good rehearsal on Saturday! - we got through everything, and we are making progress! Remember that we have six full rehearsals remaining, plus the dress rehearsal in Popejoy on April 28th. (No rehearsal on March 31st).
Special note! Attached you will find the words to the "Les Miserables" songs that fit our arrangement. As Mr. Corbin said, we invite any of you who are interested to let us know that you would like to sing with the orchestra - we think it will be fantastic to have orchestra members singing as well as playing (though not at the same time :-) )!
Laredo: As we mentioned on Saturday, this piece is too long, and we will be making a major cut! We will play up to the 2nd ending at m. 31, play the first measure plus the downbeat of 32, and then CUT to the 2nd half of m. 126 - only those with 2 accented quarter notes will play that half of m. 126 - everyone else will coming at 127. This should make the piece much more managable, while still keeping the primary melody and the exciting finish!
Les Miserables: Probably the most important thing for you to do is to listen to the songs! Then, look especially at the 12/8 sections and perhaps mark the big pulses (each dotted quarter value of the measure).
Those are the main things to think about for this week - keep practicing every day if possible, and we'll see you on Saturday!
We rely on donations from generous individuals and businesses like you to provide symphonic performance experiences to Albuquerque’s talented young musicians and access to music education for students in need.
