Request - Send me your 2 or 3 most influential SYMPHONIC WORKS. Many of you have already, but keep them coming! Please add if you would like me to keep your submission anonymous. I will read a few examples next meeting.
Email, text, or send a YouTube link of yourself playing for feedback from me! Send me a video of you playing your scale, excerpts, or solo for the audition, or the optional playing assignment! Last week the optional playing assignment was the introduction of Phantom (beginning to Think of Me). This week is the first 2 numbers: Think of Me and Angel of Music. Send me a recording of you playing the important excerpts from these two numbers. This is a chance to get personal feedback on your preparation and interpretation. Much like what would happen in rehearsal:)
Winds/Brass/Percussion/Harp: Please research Phantom of the Opera and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Prepare interesting discussion points.
Violins: Please research Sinfonia Piccola and Heikki Suolahti. This will be a tough one and will need extended research. Dig deep.
Viola/Cello/Bass: Please research Edward Elgar and the Elgar Cello Concerto. You should have points to speak on regarding Elgar, the concerto, and Jaqueline Dupre, who made the piece famous.
In general, stay active, stay mentally engaged, get your school work done, and SOCIAL DISTANCE!
Miss you guys so SO much! Next meeting is Monday at 7pm. Be there or be a triangle:)
We rely on donations from generous individuals and businesses like you to provide symphonic performance experiences to Albuquerque’s talented young musicians and access to music education for students in need.
