Message from the Executive Director

Youth Symphony Parents and Students,

While this news was shared with students during this evening's Tour rehearsal, I wanted to share the information with parents, as well as with Youth Symphony families who are not participating in this year's tour.

With very mixed emotions, I want to inform you that Andres Moran has accepted a position at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, and he will be relocating to Wisconsin with his family later this summer. However, I'm very happy that Mr. Moran will still be joining us on the 2016 Tour to co-conduct the performance in San Diego on the USS Midway.

I want to thank Mr. Moran for his contributions to both the Youth Symphony -- which is concluding a season that I am still finding the words to describe -- and the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program.

Mr. Moran is a very gifted musician and talented conductor, and I have the sincerest appreciation for his work and dedication this season.

I hope you'll join me in congratulating Mr. Moran on this exciting opportunity, and in wishing him and his beautiful family the very best in their future endeavors.

I also want to let you know that we have made an offer to a candidate for the position of Youth Symphony Conductor and are waiting on an acceptance. I hope to have an update in regard to that matter soon.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at (505) 875-1319.
