PLEASE READ!! Youth Orchestra hosting CSYSA! PLEASE RESPOND!

Dear YO Students and Families,

I really need your help!  I am sending this out again as we still need many volunteers!  This event is happening.  Activities are being planned (did I once hear someone claim that Colorado had BETTER GREEN CHILE?!).  Concert space is being secured.  Schedule is being finalized.  The last step we need is the housing!  If we put up 2 students per house, we need around 35 volunteers.  Please let me know if you can help us be incredible hosts and help house these wonderful young musicians!  Details below...

Dear YO Students and Families,
As most of you may remember, the Ovation Youth Orchestra from Colorado Springs is eager to collaborate with the Albuquerque Youth Orchestra this year.  This invitation is an honor and I am excited to let you know that this event is back on!  With new dates, on April 17-18, 2020, the Youth Orchestra has the opportunity to host the Ovation Youth Orchestra (OYO) from the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association during its spring tour. The OYO, like our own YO, consists of approximately 70 students from several public and private schools in the Colorado Springs area. While they are in Albuquerque, the OYO will do some sightseeing and will also collaborate with our Youth Orchestra for a joint concert at a venue to be determined. We'll also have a pot luck meal of some sort, about which we'll send more information out once OYO has finalized its itinerary.
We need your help! Our Youth Orchestra will be hosting the Ovation Orchestra students while they are in town, so we will need as many of our Youth Orchestra families as possible to house one or two students for the nights of April 17 and 18. If you and your family are willing to serve as a host family for one or two (or more!) OYO students on April 17 and 18, please send an email to our Operations Manager, Howie George, at and let him know the following:
1. How many students you are able to accommodate;
  • 2. If you have a preference, the gender of the student(s) you are able to accommodate;
  • 3. Whether you have pets or any other conditions at your house that might be a factor for a student with severe allergies or a medical condition.
We need to hear from all of our YO families by Friday, December 20, 2019 so that we can make appropriate arrangements. We are very excited about this collaboration opportunity for our Youth Orchestra students. It will be a busy and fun-filled weekend of new friendships, learning, and making music together.
Thanks in advance for your prompt response to Howie!  -Mr. Upton and,
Howie George
