We appreciate that so many of you were able to make it to rehearsal today despite the road conditions!
Here are a few things to work on this week before next rehearsal:
1.Listen to a recording of ALL of the pieces while following along in your music. This will help with a lot of the rhythmic issues that we are having in rehearsal. Hopefully, you noticed how much better the Best of the Beatles sounded after having listened to recordings of the actual songs.
2. Other than rhythm, the other item that needs to be worked on is articulation. For instance: Bacchanale- short and “crunchy”; Postlude- “cantabile” (singing); Italian Folk Festival- imitate the performance that we heard of Andrea Bocelli singing “Funiculi Funicula”.
3. Spend as much time as you possibly can listening and practicing the music- practicing along with the music is super helpful too!
We are making a lot of progress but there is still a ways to go! Keep up the good work and have a fantastic week!
Note: Next week is picture day for those that would like a professional picture taken with their instrument or friend in AYS.
