It was so nice to be back in rehearsal after such a long break! Many of you are A LOT taller than when we saw you at the fall concert at Eldorado in December. Hopefully, you all got plenty of rest and are ready to get some work done!
We currently have three pieces that we are working on- Bacchanalefrom Samson and Delilah, Postlude in F by Charles Ives, and the Best of the Beatles, arranged by Calvin Custer. (Click on each title to listen to a recording! And be sure to listen to the original versions of the Beatles' songs.) If for some reason you do not have music for each of these songs it is your responsibility to talk to Ms. Brasher or Mr. Corbin so you can get your own copy. This coming rehearsal you will be given more music so be sure to practice what you have now- especially so you will be prepared for sectionals! Attendance for the next few weeks is especially crucial since there will only be four sectionals this semester and every minute of each one is valuable time! Do your part by listening to recordings and practicing your music thoroughly, looking for particular places in the music that are challenging or you may have a question about. String players- it is VERY important that you bring a PENCIL for marking in fingerings and bowings that your sectionals coach gives you.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and hard work- this program would not be what it is without your dedication and love of music!
Ms. Brasher and Mr. Corbin
We rely on donations from generous individuals and businesses like you to provide symphonic performance experiences to Albuquerque’s talented young musicians and access to music education for students in need.
