It's hard to believe that our concert is just around the corner! Time flies fast! Good work at rehearsal on Saturday, however, there are still some things that need to be worked on and addressed during your time practicing this week. The first and most crucial task is for each of you to listen to a recording of Cross Creek (several times) and follow along in your music making sure to focus on the time signature changes and the hemiola melody. Unfortunately, we had all of the sectionals at the beginning of the semester so we weren't able to have any on Cross Creek but we are confident that you all will do your part by spending a lot of time practicing and listening to recordings.
Secondly, be sure to continue practicing with a metronome for rhythmic consistency and also to gradually increase the tempo in Capriccio Espagnol and The Quest. Both pieces need to be faster without being out of control. Corral Nocturne has several time signature changes and is played at a slow tempo, making it hard to stay together as an ensemble so be sure to practice counting while playing and/or while listening to a recording.
In preparation for the school tour to Hoover Middle School on Thursday, November 29th, be sure to communicate with your teachers and get assignments ahead of time so you will not get behind in your classes and your teachers will know that you won't be in class that morning.
Thank you for all of your hard work. See you Saturday!
