SOPHIA AYALA GETTYS

Sophia was born in New Mexico, but her most formative years were molded in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Sophia attended Eastern New Mexico University for Theater and Communications from 2000-2002, after which she moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue acting, where she then met her now-husband of over 20 years, Eric, and welcomed their two kids, Gabriella and Gabriel. Sophia continued to pursue her artistic dreams as a chef after a short stint on the Food Network Reality Show “Worst Cooks in America,” as well as cultivate a career in community health and nutrition with both Kaiser Permanente and the Colorado Children’s Hospital in Denver.  Sophia attended Denver’s Johnson and Wales Adult Continuing Education Program and became a chef educator for Cooking Matters Colorado, a staff blogger for LiveWell Colorado, and a public representative for the blog website “Hybrid Mom.” Since returning to New Mexico, Sophia has primarily worked in healthcare with Presbyterian Healthcare Services as a Care Coordination Assistant.  She is excited to join AYSP in her new role, and enjoys watching the kids learn and perform.
