Happy New Year! Congratulations on two amazing performances in December: the NM Philharmonic Holiday Pops and New Years Eve with Opera Southwest. I am so very proud of you. After the successes of our first semester concerts, I am looking forward to continuing our work together towards what promises to be a musically rewarding second semester! I have also loved hearing those of you that are at the All State rehearsals today and am looking forward to the concerts on Saturday.
Our program for this semester is:
Jeremy Hegg commission - brass and percussion fanfare, in honor of our Sydney Opera House performance
I am excited about the music we will be preparing for the Popejoy concert in April and the tour to Australia, and encourage you to pick it up tomorrow or Saturday so you can practice it a little bit before Monday's rehearsal. Your parts for Williams and Dvorak will be availble for you to pick up at Robertson & Sons Violin Shop (on Carlisle between Candelaria & Comanche) tomorrow/Friday 12 PM - 6 PM and Saturday 9 AM - 5 PM. Robertson's is closed Sunday and Monday. If In addition, please listen to our pieces to prepare your ears for rehearsal. I gave links above, but there are many more available online. The more different ones you listen to, the better!
Lastly, a spot to Australia has opened! If you are interested in filling that spot and joining us on tour, please have a parent/guardian email me next week.
We rely on donations from generous individuals and businesses like you to provide symphonic performance experiences to Albuquerque’s talented young musicians and access to music education for students in need.
