As I shared with you last night, you must be practicing the assigned sections from our Rehearsal Notes each week if you expect to have a great concert in a few weeks. We have just 5 rehearsals left before Popejoy Hall and we need to start polishing after spring break, not continue reviewing notes and rhythms at every rehearsal. As I have been saying for weeks, our concert will only be as good as our rehearsals and our rehearsals have been largely unprepared. After break, I do not expect to rehearse any notes and rhythms. We need to be rehearsing phrasing, intonation, balance, style, etc. If you are not prepared with your individual parts, it is your responsibility to learn them over the next two weeks.
6:15 - warm up
6:25 - tune
6:30 - Read ALL pieces straight through in concert order:
Chabrier, Johnson, Hue, Tchaikovsky
7:45 - break
8:00 - Tchaikovsky, mvt 2
8:20 - Tchaikovsky, mvt 4
8:40 - Tchaikovsky, mvt 1
9:00 - Tchaikovsky, mvt 3
9:15 - dismiss
I hope you enjoy some time off school and get refueled for the rest of the year. I am incredibly thankful for each one of you and our rehearsal time every week. What a gift it is to do what we do!
We rely on donations from generous individuals and businesses like you to provide symphonic performance experiences to Albuquerque’s talented young musicians and access to music education for students in need.
