Youth Symphony horn, Ezra Trager-Tarrant (AHS), passed away suddenly last week on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from a pulmonary embolism. He had been a member of AYSP since middle school. He was an outstanding young man, a master encourager and friend to all, and will be greatly missed.
Please send cards for Ezra’s family to me, and I will create an AYSP care package for Ezra’s parents. I will send you my address out through Remind. Howie George, AYSP Director of Operations and Staff Photographer, has compiled multiple photos of Ezra in AYSP over the years, which we will use to create a gift for his family.
Auditions WILL take place as scheduled in May, whether in person or virtually. For details, please refer to the detailed AYSP Read and Heed that was sent out yesterday.
The concerto competition remains as planned so Juniors, please get your application in by the deadline on April 6, 2020. You may scan and email the original, or snap a picture of the form and email it to Dr. Strong. If you do not have your teacher’s signature, they may send an email to Dr. Strong to confirm your submission.
We do not have a clear answer at this time whether our AYSP Finale Concerts are postponed or cancelled. As decisions are made, you will be informed right away.
The AYSP 65th Anniversary Alumni Reunion will not be cancelled. At this time it is not postponed, still remaining as planned on May 22-24, 2020. If that changes, you will be updated right away.
We rely on donations from generous individuals and businesses like you to provide symphonic performance experiences to Albuquerque’s talented young musicians and access to music education for students in need.
