Sectionals begin this week! We’ll meet together for the first hour and run a few things, then you’ll be in sectionals for the remainder of the time. I’m very glad to offer these this year, as they are for you to help you guide your practicing! A reminder that for the pieces this year, individual work will need to be done to be our best – your private teacher can be a great, continuous resource!
During our four sectional weeks (8/23; 8/30; 9/13; 9/27) I’ve divided our pieces into four fairly-equal sections, so everything gets a bit of work in the hour we share together.
Here the schedule for next time and what I plan to work on (and likewise what you should prioritize for this rehearsal):
Monday August 23 (10 rehearsals left before dress rehearsal/concert)
6:15-6:30 MR Hall
Warmup (on your own)
Possibility Assignment (discussion)
6:30-7:30 MR Hall
Enescu – Beginning to Rehearsal 11
Smetana – Beginning to Letter C
Elgar – Beginning to Rehearsal 7
Alwyn – Beginning to Letter B
7:30-7:45 Break (Lobby/Office – clear out of MR Hall for air exchanges)
Strings – respective labeled sectional rooms
Harp – practice room
Woodwinds – MR Hall
Brass – Pink room
Percussion – Green room
The above sections (it’s a lot to get through in an hour!) and anything technical or challenging – coaches will have a list of priorities, but feel free and add your own!
